A demonstration of local business listings in Yahoo and Google.

How do Small/business owners contact one another? Could someone recommend resources and channels to reach these SMBs (especially those mom & pop places). Do each city have their own directory collected in chamber of commerce that’s open source to users? How do citysearch get their full listings and vendor participation?

My website always ranked on page 1 of Yahoo in keyword searches and in some cases it was in the no. 2 spot. I also had a high ranking on Yahoo local. I just discovered that my website has been eliminated in the last week or two from both Yahoo search results and Yahoo local business listings. Why?
My website always ranked on the first page in Yahoo Search with the top keywords for my business. For the most popular keyword, I was no. 2. I also had a high ranking on Yahoo local. But, I recently discovered that sometime in the last week or two, my website ranking just did not drop, my website has been eliminated in Yahoo Search keyword queries and has been eliminated from Yahoo local business listings. My title, description and keyword meta tags all are appropriate to my business, are found in my web pages, and are like my top competitors. I have not keyword stuffed. So, why the major diss from Yahoo?

i own a start-up company that specializes in home audio/ video and automation installation. what is the best way to get my name out there and atract clients when im just starting off. I know word of mouth is the best method but i need a base set of jobs to build my portfolio. please help

I have a business that is being harassed via the internet. You know how you can look up places on sites like Yahoo! local? Business listings automatically come up. I own a tanning salon in Hutchinson, KS and one of my compeitiors has decided to harass me by putting negative reviews on my listing. He has even put negative comments about my salon under other salon listings which are totally untrue. I may have to remove my listing because of this. Even when Yahoo! removes a negative review he has placed, the very next day there is another one. Has anyone else encountered this and what can I do about it? I’m afraid this will hurt my business. SUGGESTIONS?
