Local search websites like Citysearch, Yelp, Menuism, Judy’s book and others like it are sprouting daily. How is it they are able to populate their restaurant listings as well as other local business details (i.e. cuisine, payment, hours)? Is there a database that they subscribe to or do they simply just crawl each other? I googled around and came across infousa, but I’m just not convinced that’s the only way. Can someone elucidate?

My business is closed. I have been paying for a yahoo service I no longer need, an enhanced marketing feature called “local.” I have called yahoo to stop and they referred me to 866-924-6676. That number refers me to 800-761-4783, which in turn goes back to the 866 #. I can’t cancel my yahoo wallet, since it’s signed up for a service. The screen has a cancel button, which takes you to an edit screen with no cancelation options. I am in a cycle of hell and can’t stop the billing. Does anyone have a friend at yahoo? The regular operators can’t help, as it’s an outside company.
The phone lines feed into each other and eventually disconnect. The regular humans at yahoo say it’s an outside company and they can’t do anything.
